Year 3 are 3D Shape Experts!
We have been exploring 3D shapes in Numeracy. We used the feely bag to describe shapes using proper mathematical language - talking about faces, edges, curved and flat surfaces. Year 3 gave fantastic descriptions without even seeing the shapes!
We then became Shape Investigators, using playdough to explore the faces on different 3D shapes. Year 3 made excellent discoveries - finding that cubes have square faces and cylinders have circular faces!
Finally, we challenged ourselves to recreate 3D shapes from photographs. Year 3 showed fantastic attention to detail and worked hard to build accurate models of what they observed.
Year 3 used wonderful mathematical language and showed great thinking skills during their 3D shape investigations.
