Term 2 begins for Yr7
9th Jan 2026
A blanket of snow on the playground provided a scenic backdrop to the start of our new term. While we made sure to take time to enjoy the winter weather and reconnect after the Christmas break, Year 7 have wasted no time diving into a busy and diverse curriculum.
Our historical inquiry into Ireland in Victorian Times is officially underway. Pupils have been using a gallery of vintage posters, photographs, and books to spark their curiosity, leading to some fantastic investigative questions. This ties in perfectly with our new class novel, Under the Hawthorn Tree, which we began exploring in Literacy this week alongside our ongoing work in grammar and spelling.
In Mathematics, the focus has been on precision, as we refine our understanding of decimals and sharpen our mental arithmetic. Beyond the traditional subjects, we were pleased to welcome Robert from MEABC to begin the Healthy Kids program, encouraging the pupils to think about physical and mental wellbeing.
We rounded off a productive week with some music. It was wonderful to hear the sound of the recorders again as we refreshed our technical skills and prepared for the musical challenges ahead this term.
It has been a purposeful and energetic start to the year, and we look forward to sharing more of our Year 7 journey as the month progresses.
