Your update for
September 2026
Welcome Back
Schools are a great place to work for a lot of reasons but a big one is the chance to start afresh every year. There is nothing like the first day of September when each class has a full set of unused glue sticks, pencils, rubbers, pens and exercise books. It won’t take us long to get stuck in to our learning and we’ll get plenty of use out of those shiny new resources.
One resource which is almost ready is our new full website, but we just need some up to date pics of our school in action. Peter Thomas Photography have kindly offered to take these pics for us at no cost. Peter will be in school Wed 2 September and the site will go live by the following week.

Massive Thank you!
This summer has been a busy one with a fair bit of work in the building. The corridor in particular has been transformed with new spaces opened up, a fresh coat of paint and new boards and signs. A huge thanks to Mr ‘non-stop’ Keenan and his band of volunteers from Larne Congregational church. Also thank you to Break Brand Consultancy for covering the costs of internal graphics and signage.
Massive thanks to Karla for working away all summer and doing a fab job with our uniforms. Karla was supported with this work by Katrina, Sophia and Ethan. Amazing to have such talented people in our Olderfleet family!
Last but by no means least a huge thanks to Mrs ‘legend’ Montgomery for juggling incoming uniform orders alongside ordering paint, rugs, furniture and resources for our school.
The Olderfleet Blog
Over the summer Mrs Brownlees and Mrs Galbraith added to the Olderfleet blog. Both were looking back and reflecting on their teaching experiences. Mrs Brownlees looked back 3 years to when she was setting up our Hive provision, while Mrs Galbraith looked back a bit farther to her first few years in teaching, a time when Blazin’ Squad and Dido were in the charts.
Connect & Nurture
Over this term our children will be taking part in Connect & Nurture sessions with Mrs Galbraith. These sessions are an updated approach to circle time based on the neurosequential model. The structure is designed to bring our social engagement systems online which is vital for learning. To find out more about the neurosequential model click here.
