How we aim high in Year 6
One of our core values as a school is “We Aim High”, and in Primary 6, this value is woven into everything we do. For our pupils, aiming high means believing in themselves, setting goals, and working hard to achieve them — both inside and outside the classroom.
We’re Switched On
After 28 years of teaching, the one thing I know for sure is that no two days and no two children, are ever the same. At Olderfleet our ‘We’re Switched On’ approach isn’t just a statement but something I’ve seen evolve and strengthen over time. It reflects what great teaching is about, being present, being responsive and being ready to adapt in the moment!
What being a family of learners means
One of our core values as a school is “We are family”, and in Year 6, this is something we experience every day. Our classroom is more than a place for lessons and learning — it is a space where children feel safe, cared for and valued, and where strong relationships are built on trust, love, care and respect.
How we aim high in Year 1
At Olderfleet Primary, we believe that learning should begin with curiosity, joy, and high expectations—and that’s exactly what you’ll see in our P1 classroom every day.
Why we stopped doing pupil of the week
If you attended primary school in the last 20 years you will likely be familiar with pupil of the week awards. These are usually given out during a celebration assembly and can be for anything. Every child in the class will get one at some point in the school year.
